  1. Cytoplasmic determinants coding for anterior structure of Drosophila embryo if injected elsewhere in the recipient embryo, would lead to
    (1) normal development.
    (2) formation of additional ectopic head.
    (3) degeneration.
    (4) a phenotype with two heads and two tails.

Cytoplasmic determinants are maternally deposited molecules localized within specific regions of the Drosophila egg cytoplasm. They set up gradients which are crucial for anterior-posterior patterning and proper development of the embryo. The localization of determinants such as bicoid mRNA to the anterior pole establishes the head and thorax structures.

If these cytoplasmic determinants are experimentally injected at locations other than their native anterior position within the embryo, they can induce ectopic expression of anterior developmental programs. This misplacement leads to formation of additional, abnormal anterior structures corresponding to the sites of injection.

For example, injecting bicoid mRNA in the middle or posterior region of a bicoid mutant embryo results in formation of an ectopic head or duplicated heads, as the localized Bicoid protein gradient defines anterior identity irrespective of the embryo’s native axis.

Therefore, the biological effect of injecting cytoplasmic determinants coding for anterior structures elsewhere in the embryo leads to:

    (2) formation of additional ectopic head.

If the cytoplasmic determinants is injected at anterior part . So anterior structures in the embryo leads to formation of additional ectopic head.
