6. SHUTTLE VECTORS
Shuttle vectors contain different selection markers for a different organism, for example, an ampicillin resistance gene for E. coli while LEU-2 auxotrophic mutants for yeast cells. These vectors provide an advantage that eukaryotic gene can be cloned in bacterial hosts and the expression of these genes can be analyzed in the eukaryotic background.
