The
ICMR Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) Exam is the first step which a candidate needs to clear to get into admission for the Ph.D. Research Programme. ICMR holds a national level examination for determining the eligibility of Indian National candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) through Indian Council of Medical Research. The award of Junior Research Fellowship to the successful eligible candidates will depend on their finding placement in a medical college / hospital / university / national laboratory / institution of higher learning and research as applicable.The ICMR JRF fellowship is conducted in a total of 12 centers which are:

The JRF award is made on the basis of merit, which is done through an entrance exam post issuing the admission notice countrywide.
ICMR JRF Eligibility Criteria
The following eligibility requirements must be met by the candidates who wish to participate in the ICMR JRF Exam.
The upper age limit for ICMR JRF is 28 years. However, the OBC candidates are eligible to apply till 31 years, whereas SC/ST/ PwD/ Female candidates are eligible to apply till the age of 33 years.
The candidates must have secured an M.A./M.Sc degree with at least 55% marks (for General/ EWS/ OBC candidates) from a recognized university or its equivalent qualification.
Candidates belonging to the SC/ ST/ PwD category have to secure a minimum of 50% marks in M.A./M.Sc degree.
M.A./M.Sc candidates who have already given their final exam and are waiting for their result can also apply for ICMR JRF Exam 2022.

ICMR JRF Minimum Qualifying Marks
To pass the ICMR JRF exam candidates must obtain a minimum qualifying percentage in the Entrance Exam.
For General/ OBC/ EWS category candidates the minimum qualifying mark is 55%
SC/ ST/ PwD candidates are required to score 50% to pass the exam
The aspirants for ICMR JRF, who are just starting their preparation, can start with the Aptitude section as they ask very basic questions from this section. They can start preparing with the books of classes 9-12 for the Aptitude section. On the other hand, for the Science portion, NCERT books of 11 and 12 (Biology) and any reference book for NEET or PMT are great to work with.
